New Years eve Poem

New year eve poem

hundreds of fireworks light the dark night sky
I sit patiently paused pondering for the new year
Eyes shut down body failing
The noise of what sounds like hundreds of little rockets going off

This has been done for about 20yrs
It takes as long as a giraffe's neck to turn from 8 to 12
Waiting for time to change to 12 felt like it took 4 years
The adults are out I am the only one awake

The night drags on as I have coffee filled awakeness
The night stay’s still like a statue
Darkness drags the dimly lit daylight
Fireworks have stopped now darkness has gone
The new day has started
It feels like it has taken 12 years till this day
Hyperbole
Simile/Metaphor
